Neurones 3D vs Splat Labs

Looking for a Splat Labs alternative? Neurones 3D is free, offline point cloud and Gaussian splatting software for Windows: the free viewer runs every process, from AI classification to dimensioned floor plans, and a one-time paid edition saves the results.

Splat Labs, from ROCK Robotic, is a cloud platform for hosting, measuring and sharing Gaussian splat digital twins in the browser, with AI floor plans, virtual staging and 4D timelines.

The short answer

Choose Neurones 3D when the capture must stay on your own machine and become engineering data: a point cloud, classified and measured, a floor plan in DXF, or a change map between two epochs, on a licence bought once. Choose Splat Labs when the job is to host a splat and share it: clients open a link in any browser, walk the space, read annotations and follow progress over time. They fit together well: produce the drawings and analysis offline in Neurones 3D, and publish the splat on Splat Labs for stakeholders to explore.

Where Neurones 3D is stronger

  • Runs offline on your own PC with no upload; Splat Labs hosts splats in its cloud.
  • Bought once with no subscription.
  • Floor plans are vector drawings saved as DXF R2000, SVG and PDF, with real dimension entities, rather than an image.
  • Classifies point clouds with trained models (indoor, aerial LiDAR, powerline, streetscape), with a confidence per point.
  • M3C2 change detection with a 95 % level of detection, plus DTM, DSM and contour lines.

Where Splat Labs is stronger

  • Splat Labs shares splats with anyone through a link, viewable in any browser, on any device and in VR.
  • Collaboration tools: annotations, portals between captures, guided walkthroughs, access control and integrations with Autodesk Construction Cloud, Procore and ArcGIS.
  • Neither tool trains splats, but Splat Labs adds AI virtual staging and 4D timelines for progress tracking.

Who should choose which

Choose Neurones 3D to take a point cloud or a splat capture to a finished deliverable on your own machine: classified LAS, a dimensioned floor plan with sections and elevations in DXF, a DTM with contours, a change map or a report, without an account, an upload or a subscription. Every figure it publishes is measured; see the benchmarks.

Choose Splat Labs: Construction, real estate and survey teams who want to upload splats from any capture tool and share them with clients through a link, with no software to install.

Questions

Is Splat Labs free?

Splat Labs: Starter $14 a month; Business $69 a month; Enterprise $158 a month billed annually, LiDAR add-on $1,599 a year (yearly billing saves up to 30%). Free use: Free plan to start. How this comparison was made

Written by the maker of Neurones 3D, so read it as such. Splat Labs's column comes only from ROCK Robotic's published documentation and listings, read on 2026-09-24; where we found nothing, the cell says "not stated". Neurones 3D's column comes from its own guides, which give the limits too. If something here is wrong or out of date, write to howto@learngeodata.eu and it will be corrected.

About

Why Neurones 3D exists.

Standing inside a 43.5 million point indoor laser scan rendered by Neurones 3D

I have spent years working with point clouds, and for most of them the software got in the way. I wanted one tool I would actually reach for every day: fast enough to enjoy, honest about what it does, and calm to use.

Neurones 3D started in Python, the way most of my research does. It worked, but it was heavy, and heavy tools quietly discourage you from opening them. So I rebuilt everything in Rust, from the file readers to the renderer, with one rule: stay frugal. A single small file, no cloud, no telemetry, billions of points on a laptop that is ten years old. In an age where every tool reaches for a data center, I wanted the opposite.

The goal is simple to say and hard to earn. One package that carries you from capture to understanding to deliverable, without exporting to five other programs along the way. Load a scan, a splat, a building, a phone video. See it, classify it, measure it, and send out something real. Together, in one place.

This is the tool I always wanted. I hope it becomes yours too.
